Overview
Trust Resident Doctor ST3+ level (MN37) post in Digital Medicine, remote monitoring and Virtual Hospital Medicine. This is a full time, fixed term 12‑month role.
Full or part time applications are invited for this exciting clinical fellowship in virtual hospital, digital technology and remote monitoring.
This post is designed for senior trainees (ST3+ level) or post‑CMT trainees (ST3+ level) seeking advanced skills or a solid foundation before specialist training. Applications across all specialties are welcomed.
West Herts Virtual Hospital has attracted national attention with Amanda Pritchard, Chief Executive of NHS England, who recently visited our set up. A short YouTube video (https://youtu.be/HZZfprv8ZVc) illustrates the role.
The role will provide enhanced training with dedicated time in West Herts’ national virtual hospital, which currently has four distinct wards for heart function (HF), ABC, Gen Med and Frailty, as well as smaller pathways such as post‑surgery.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver and maintain the various pathways running within the acute VH Hub.
* Communicate complex, sensitive, and sensitive information (written and verbal) and work to overcome barriers with senior colleagues, executives, and external stakeholders.
* Participate in case‑finding, attend emergency department daily huddles, daily board rounds, and review patients remotely.
* Bring patients up to the hospital for in‑person reviews and enhance the link between patients on outlier wards, the VH team, and specialist services.
* Review in‑patients for potential onboarding to the virtual hospital.
* Link with industry partners to review current technology and RPM solutions, and contribute to future development.
* Engage in research opportunities, including working with curated data feeds of over 1000 discharged patients.
* Support consultants in providing weekend cover for the virtual hospital (x1 weekend per month).
Note: The post holder will rotate between different pathways.
Qualifications
Applicants must be ST3+ level trainees, senior trainees or post‑CMT trainees, with experience or interest in digital medicine, remote monitoring, and virtual hospital care. Experience in multidisciplinary teamwork and communication of complex information is desirable. IT/data literate trainees may pursue a postgraduate qualification, and engagement with the Faculty of Clinical Informatics is encouraged. Research opportunities are available for IT/data literate trainees.
