Role Overview
The Senior Town Planner will work closely with experienced masterplanning, urban design, mapping, and graphic communications teams, contributing strategic insight and leadership across major projects. The role offers a strong balance of collaboration and autonomy, allowing individuals to take ownership of projects, manage client relationships, and apply their professional judgement, creativity, and problem‑solving skills to deliver successful planning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading and contributing to strategic and spatial planning projects
* Preparing and managing planning applications, negotiations, and representations
* Working closely with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities to secure consents
* Supporting masterplanning and place-making initiatives
* Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and acting as trusted advisors
* Mentoring junior team members and contributing to knowledge sharing
Requirements
We're looking for planners with experience in either the private or public sector, who have demonstrable and transferable skills particularly within the following areas:
* Preparation and negotiation of development proposals (particularly residential-led and/or commercial/mixed use planning applications)
* Negotiating planning permissions, conditions and s106 agreements
* Policy and plan-making activity
* Shaping promotion strategies for development projects
* Working as part of multi-disciplinary teams and to help co-ordinate design and engineering outputs to put development on the ground
