Job Summary
CDW’s Solution Sales organization collaborates with sales to deliver high‑value outcomes and experiences across Hybrid Platforms, Modern Workspace, Security, and Digital Enablement. The Senior Solution Architect supports the delivery of successful financial metrics through technical and services engagements with customers, owns solution creation and execution, and delivers documentation that meets business needs, targets, and KPIs.
Responsibilities – What you will do
Success Factors
* Win complex solutions and services for CDW.
* Engage customers and internal stakeholders, meeting SLAs and agreed timeframes.
* Ensure design quality and accuracy to meet expectations and support sales outcomes.
* Maintain regular engagement with existing and prospective customers, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and profitable outcomes.
Customer Facing
* Act as solution owner and key contributor, providing business and technical expertise.
* Build trust by translating customer needs into actionable technical insights. Present confidently to decision makers.
* Possess broad knowledge of multiple technologies and vendors, assessing compatibility and recommending optimal solutions.
* Utilize vendor‑specific tools, training, certifications, and resources to support credibility and solution validation.
* Understand the technology ecosystem within your aligned Go‑to‑Market and articulate its importance to projects.
Technology Recommendations
* Advise customers on the best technologies and vendors to meet desired outcomes, including those beyond your team’s initial focus.
Go‑to‑Market
* Provide quotes and outcome benefits for product add‑ons that enhance existing environments without major redesign.
* Focus on incremental improvements that deliver value and align with customer needs and CDW’s portfolio.
Capture Requirements
* Conduct structured discovery to capture and clarify customers’ technical and business requirements.
* Validate requirements by deeply understanding desired outcomes across linked projects.
* Document findings in line with CDW standards to inform design and delivery planning.
Proposal Creation
* Support creation of proposal documents using the latest template and collaborate with Solution Sales team members.
* Produce exemplary technical high‑level design documents aligned with customer requirements.
* Contribute significantly to bid outcomes and support throughout the engagement.
* Promote relevant CDW services and align internal support from Solution Sales as needed.
* Provide accurate professional services costings following internal processes.
Commercials
* Drive architecture‑based pricing and sizing to meet commercial objectives.
* Employ a strategic approach, considering commercial risks to both CDW and the customer.
What we expect of you
* Demonstrable knowledge of hybrid cloud solutions from leading vendors such as Cisco, Dell Technologies, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Lenovo.
* Expertise in Compute Solutions including CI, HCI, and servers powered by VMware, Nutanix, and Red Hat.
* Knowledge of a structured sales process and the competitive landscape.
* Collaboration with sales, delivery teams, and Business Development Managers to support bids and engagements.
* Ensure documentation relevance and accuracy, meeting customer outcomes.
* Maintain role‑aligned certifications and pursue ongoing learning.
* Minimum of four years in a technical consulting, solution architecture, or pre‑sales engineering role.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Familiarity with vendor platforms and tools, and integrate across ecosystems.
* Experience leading customer engagements focused on business outcomes.
* Strong communication skills, persuading senior stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
* Decision‑making skills, leading complex trade‑off analyses with quantified risk and contingency plans.
* Organizational and time‑management skills, orchestrating cross‑team schedules to protect critical paths.
* Relationship management, facilitating workshops and negotiating compromises.
* Personal accountability, championing standards and post‑incident learning.
* Design scalable, value‑focused solutions aligned to customer KPIs and program objectives.
* Drive revenue and margin through solution propositions, ROI/TCO modeling, and influencing commercial decisions.
