About Opensoft Systems
Opensoft Systems delivers bespoke automation and control solutions to industrial clients across the UK and internationally. We specialise in plant-wide Manufacturing Execution Systems, along with integration to ERP platforms and third-party applications.

Our strength lies in the depth of experience within our team. Whether we are enhancing existing systems or designing new ones from the ground up, we work closely with our clients to deliver practical, reliable solutions.

We offer a stable, well-organised working environment where people are encouraged to succeed. You'll be supported by experienced colleagues, given the space to develop your technical expertise, and trusted to shape your own area of the business. Clear communication, teamwork and professional development are central to how we work, making Opensoft a great place to grow your career while working with respected global brands.

About the role
This is a UK-wide role as the Senior Trainer within our PLC and Control Systems Training division. You'll take ownership of delivering high-quality courses, developing content, and helping to shape the future of our training portfolio.

While the role is based in Harrogate, it carries a national remit, with a mix of remote working and travel to client sites as required.

About you
You'll be an experienced automation professional who enjoys sharing knowledge and helping others develop their skills. You're confident working with a range of PLC and automation platforms and comfortable leading from the front.

You'll bring:

• Strong hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, drives and/or industrial networking.

• Proven knowledge of leading automation platforms, including Siemens, Allen Bradley (Rockwell), Mitsubishi and Omron (occasionally).

• Clear, confident communication skills and a genuine passion for teaching and mentoring.

• A well-organised approach, with attention to detail and the flexibility to travel to customer sites when needed.

• Experience delivering practical and theoretical training in an industrial environment.

Previous experience in training, coaching or mentoring is essential. What matters most, is a high level of technical competence and the ability to pass that knowledge on in a clear, engaging way.

This role would suit someone with a background as a Technical Trainer or has worked in a similar role, such as PLC Instructor, Automation Trainer, Drives Instructor, HMI Trainer or Industrial Networking Trainer.

Full support and training on the company's procedures will be provided to help you transition into this senior position, working alongside an experienced team to deliver market-leading training programmes.

Technical responsibilities:

• Delivering a wide range of automation training courses at varying skill levels, including:

o Siemens S7-300 & S7-400 PLC training using SIMATIC Manager
o Siemens S7-1200 & S7-1500 PLC training using TIA Portal
o Siemens HMI training using WinCC Flexible/TIA Portal o Siemens SCADA training using WinCC/TIA Portal o Allen Bradley SLC 500 PLC training using RSLogix 500
o Rockwell CompactLogix and ControlLogix PLC training using RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000 o Rockwell HMI training using FactoryTalk View Machine Edition
o Rockwell SCADA training using FactoryTalk View Site Edition
o Omron PLC training o Mitsubishi PLC training

• Continual review and development of course materials, ensuring content remains current, practical and relevant

• Supporting Technical Sales and Business Development teams with technical input and expertise when required

Additional
You'll need to have a full driving license to enable you to travel to client sites across the UK and Ireland.

It's not unusual for clients to fly individuals over to us to participate in our courses, so you will need to be fully fluent in English. Minimum C1.

This is a business critical role, so the successful individual will ideally be available by mid/end March.

Unfortunately, due to time constraints we are not able to offer sponsorship for this opportunity, so you must be currently residing in the UK, with full right to work.
