Based in the Laboratory at the Pembroke Refinery you will be trained up to complete various product and sample testing. You will be part of a team of 26 providing refinery product analysis. The laboratory is committed to provide all its customers and regulatory authorities with a service that meets their requirements for quality, timeliness and value. Key Responsibilities: Ensuring incident free operations through the effective use of safety programs including VPP, VSEP, MOC and EHSM Prioritisation of daily testing including validation and calibration. Samples include final product, process monitoring as well as environment samples. Timely and accurate testing and reporting of samples Performing routine equipment maintenance, calibration and repair. Supporting external engineers. Monitoring stock levels of laboratory supplies to maintain stock levels required. Complete scheduled tasks and audits as assigned Participate in Correlation proficiency Programs Housekeeping in support of Valero Protection programme (VPP) Requirements: A tertiary degree / diploma in Science is preferable for this role, or experience in a chemical / Petro-chem laboratory. An understanding of ISO 17025 is preferable but not essential Flexibility Experience in good laboratory practice A good understanding of the petrochemical refining processes Strong technical / professional problem-solving skills and good communications skills (written and verbal) Strong personal drive for development and the ability to self-manage personal workload Ability to represent the laboratory on both internal and external working groups Hours per week: Normal working hours 37.5hrs/wk. Pembroke Plant operates nine-day fortnight as well as a 3 and 10 shift system. Nine-day fortnight Week 1 - Mon Thurs, 9.0hrs/day 07:30 to 16:30, Friday, 7hrs 07:30 to 15:00. Working hours include a 30-minute unpaid lunch break Week 2 - Mon Thurs, 9.0hrs/day 07:30 to 16:30, Friday, Tenth Day Off (TDO). Working hours include a 30-minute unpaid lunch break Following the completion of training you will be expected to work the below mentioned shift pattern. Shift pattern(Repeats Monthly).
