About the Role
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Peckham, Southwark is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time position working Monday to Wednesday, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across the school.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting children with additional needs to access learning, develop socially and emotionally, and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
Support children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other additional needs
Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
Use positive handling techniques in line with school policy (physical intervention training essential)
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environmentThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Proven experience working with children with special educational needs in a primary school setting
Positive Handling/Behaviour Management training (e.g., Team Teach or equivalent)
Strong behaviour management skills
Patience, resilience, and a calm, consistent approach
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
