Programme Finance Analyst

Location: Whiteley, Hampshire, UK

Role Overview:

Reporting to the UK Defence Portfolio Programme Finance Manager, the Programme Financial Analyst (PFA) will be responsible for providing Programme Financial Control and ensuring the integrity of the financials on programmes across the Defence Portfolio, within the National Security and Defence (NS&D) Division, based in Southeast England.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Be a key member of the Programme Management Team and act as a Finance Business Partner.
2. Provide high-quality customer service to all stakeholders.
3. Responsible for pricing new business opportunities when required.
4. Develop, track, and update the programme baseline, including monitoring actual costs against the baseline, and managing the Estimate At Complete (EAC).
5. Analyze programme actuals for accuracy, identify and correct errors, and communicate issues to Programme Management.
6. Produce programme financial deliverables for customers.
7. Support financial presentations for programme or operational reviews.
8. Perform short- and long-term forecasting for metrics such as Awards, Revenue, Operating Income, and Cash Flow, with commentary on variances and financial Risks & Opportunities.
9. Manage programme billing, cash collection, and the analysis and clearing of unbilled receivables.
10. Support validation of awards, bookings, backlog, revenue, and operating income.
11. Provide ad hoc support to stakeholders within the finance leadership and operational teams.
12. Manage multiple tasks simultaneously with flexibility to meet deadlines.
13. Take ownership of decisions made.

Skills Required:

* Experience in project/programme accounting.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Organized, thorough, with attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and proactively as part of a team.
* Effective across organizations and multiple locations.
* Proactive in completing work assignments.
* Good time management skills.
* Ability to operate under tight schedules.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced).
* Experience with MS PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
* Recognized accounting qualification or studying towards one (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, ACA).

Desirable Skills:

* UK MoD SC clearance.
* Pricing/Cost Estimating experience.
* Knowledge of management accounting and absorption costing.
* Experience with financial management software.

Clearance Requirements:

* BPSS Pre-screening required to start.
