Specialist Autism and ADHD Assessment Practitioner

The closing date is 02 November 2025

We are looking for a passionate, highly motivated professional who is keen to further develop their knowledge and experience of Autism and ADHD assessment in children and young people. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of shaping the future of these services in Gloucestershire. You will be part of developing a robust, evidence based, multi-agency assessment and post diagnostic intervention service, whilst developing your clinical skills around neurodiversity.

You will join a robust MDT of Paediatricians, Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists, Nurses and Occupational Therapists, in addition to working closely with Education Professionals. You will have the opportunity to positively impact the future of children and young people by offering robust assessments of Autism and ADHD, comprehensive formulations of need and tailored post diagnostic support. You will also be offered the opportunity to support the evaluation and development of the service, through both local resources and linking to teams across the South West.

We are looking for practitioners who have an interest and expertise in Autism and ADHD diagnostic work, but are flexible as to which clinical background you specialise in, as we have a diagnostic team which include all of the different professional backgrounds.

Main duties of the job

* Work as part of an MDT to complete assessments for Autism and ADHD with children and young people
* Complete profession specific assessments to aid formulation
* Offer supervision and consultation to professionals working with neuro-diverse young people and families
* Take responsibility for, and develop, projects to improve the experience for neuro-diverse young people in Gloucestershire, both within the service and within the wider network.
* To work closely with education colleagues to ensure young people's needs are understood and met.
* Offer pre/post diagnostic groups to families.

We offer robust clinical supervision, a wide range of CPD opportunities and specialist training/experience. We will create a personalised development plan around the post holder to enable them to continue to develop their clinical skills. As a service connected to Specialist CAMHS there are possibilities of working in other clinical areas/specialities alongside this role as part of continuing development.

About us

We have a skilled and dedicated workforce of over 5000 colleagues working in a diverse range of services over 55 sites and within people's homes. We strive to enable a welcoming workplace culture that builds and celebrates civility, inclusivity and diversity, while providing a sense of belonging and trust.

Annual staff surveys, regular Pulse surveys and other engagement opportunities provide our people with lots of opportunity to tell us about their experiences of working with us. In the latest staff survey, 61% of colleagues gave us their views. It was great to hear that:

* 72% of colleagues would recommend the Trust as a place to work, ranking us 1st for Provider Trusts in the South West region on this question.
* 76% would recommend the standard of care provided in our services if a friend or relative needed treatment, also ranking us 1st in the South West region.
* 81% said that care of patients and service users is the Trust's priority, compared with an average in comparable NHS Trusts in England of 64%.

This high-level overview shows we are in a healthy position, with higher scores than average for comparable organisations, alongside a great response rate, indicating good staff engagement. However, we also know we have plenty of room for improvement in many areas. To that end, we continue to prioritise and invest in our commitment to genuinely becoming a Great Place to Work with consistent top-quartile performance in the annual staff survey and Pulse surveys.
