About The Team
We are a busy team of ten people. The team manager leads a group of Information Officers, Request Handling Information Rights Specialists, and Compliance and Appeals Information Rights Specialists.
About The Role
As an Information Officer you will manage a busy workload of 20 to 25 FOIA and EIR cases at any time, covering commercial, security, legal, data protection, political, and other issues. You will apply the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, GDPR, and related legislation to decide whether information should be released, meet legal obligations, and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Your daily tasks include managing your case load, identifying and solving problems, making nuanced decisions, communicating clearly with stakeholders, influencing relationships, and maintaining high levels of organisation and attention to detail.
Essential Criteria
* Demonstrable ability to identify and solve problems, and to make decisions
* Analytical thinking, quick absorption of technical detail
* Proven oral and written communication skills
* Influencing and stakeholder management skills
* High level of organisational skills and attention to detail
* Teamwork and ability to build positive relationships
Desirable Criteria
* Paralegal or legal background
* Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent
* Working knowledge of FOIA, EIR, and data protection acts and principles of good information management
* Willingness to undertake formal FOI training
* IT literacy and experience using various information management systems
