Overview
As a Senior Data & Analytics Analyst you will be a key driver of data excellence in our organisation, using your technical and analytical expertise to support a diverse range of internal functions and external stakeholders such as assureds, brokers and suppliers by delivering actionable insights and robust data solutions.
This role advocates for the expanded use of data in critical decision-making, drives increased data literacy across the organisation, and nurtures a data-driven culture. Working closely with data engineers and stakeholders, you contribute to the design and development of datasets, data models and dashboards, translating complex technical information into clear, accessible insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
What will you be doing?
* Responsible for a range of regular reporting tasks including internal management information and regulatory returns
* Fielding ad-hoc data requests from other business functions, brokers, assureds and third parties
* Ensuring the annual renewal budgeting process runs smoothly, that underwriters are equipped with all tools and data required, and that this is delivered in the most automated manner possible
* Partner with Underwriting to deliver data-driven insights that support pricing strategies and product performance
* Work closely with Technology product teams to ensure our data architecture supports operations, bringing new datasets into the Data Platform or enhancing existing datasets to remain reliable and fit for purpose
* Monitor and stimulate usage of datasets and tools you have created
* Collaborate with other business functions to understand and resolve data challenges, focusing on operational efficiency gains and increasing data literacy
* Drive adoption of good data practices, educating and encouraging others to do more with our data
About you
Skills/Qualifications/Experience
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and persuasion skills – able to build constructive, lasting relationships with peers and stakeholders
* Highly organised and able to operate independently
* Highly numerate, able to quickly establish numerical reasoning to support business decisions
* Ability to juggle multiple varied tasks simultaneously whilst effectively communicating progress to stakeholders
* Highly proficient with Excel
* Proficient with PowerBI (or similar visualization tool)
* Insurance background
* Marine / specialty lines insurance experience, whether in underwriting / broking / data
* Proficient with SQL
* Experience supporting data governance activities
* Proficient with Power Query
* Understanding of reinsurance
