This role is ideal for a recent graduate in Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or for someone with up to 1–2 years of experience in data engineering or analytics. You’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing data engineering solutions such as automated pipelines, SQL databases and governance models. You’ll work across the full data lifecycle. From data extraction and transformation (ETL) through to data modelling, visualisation, and reporting – helping to drive data-informed decision-making across the business. You’ll gain hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, SQL, and Databricks, while learning best practices in data pipeline management, automation, and data governance. Role Responsibilities (include but not limited to): Work with stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Support in building and managing data pipelines using Microsoft Azure, Databricks and other ETL tools. Contribute to data modelling, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integrity across sources. Help automate repetitive data processes and improve data validation. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise data solutions for performance. Assist in documenting data processes, technical workflows, and best practices. Key Objectives: Support the timely delivery of data engineering projects. Help improve data quality, reliability, and automation within the data environment. Develop and maintain reporting to log and monitor pipeline performance and data flow health. Migrate pipelines from ADF to Databricks. Work closely with Junior Data Engineer and AI Engineer to deliver on business projects. Essential Skills & Experience: Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based data services (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Databricks). Data Engineering Fundamentals: Strong experience with SQL, relational databases, and data modelling concepts. Understanding of ETL workflows, data pipelines, and automation. Technical Awareness: Awareness of APIs, version control (Git), scripting (Python), and how they fit within a data ecosystem. Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work effectively with senior colleagues, translating technical insights into clear business value. Desirable Skills & Experience: Exposure to data warehousing, data governance, or data quality frameworks. Experience using Databricks to create and orchestrate data pipelines. Understanding of statistics, data ethics, or machine learning concepts from academic studies. Experience working with or analysing large datasets using SQL or Python.
