Head of Payroll
We are recruiting for a Head of Payroll for our team in Milton Keynes .
You will report into and work closely with the CFO to manage a payroll operating model, standardising processes, ensuring regulatory compliance and end-to end process documentation to deliver business continuity. This role will also actively collaborate and engage with other functions.
As the Head of Group Payroll, your role will help us:
1. Deliver the strategic direction for group payroll and the leadership of the end-to-end daily operations of the payroll activities
2. Drive operational excellence with best-in-class process by providing, governance and oversight on payroll operational activity
3. Drive and promote a customer centric approach to our internal stakeholders
4. Lead compliance within operations through the design of the controls environment within the end-to-end process, identification of risks, and issue control management including remedial actions
5. Oversee and lead the development of system/robotic/AI solutions
6. Drive a culture of continuous improvement across the group payroll process and lead those team members responsible for the daily delivery of the process
Your responsibilities will include:
7. Setting the strategic direction of the group Payroll process and integration with other processes and functions with specific emphasis on working alongside the HR teams
8. Leading team motivation and development, with a focus on continuous improvement
9. Overseeing the implementation of controls and embedding risk management into the group payroll operation to ensure compliance with all payroll and tax laws
10. Audit payroll transactions to ensure all amounts and payment dates are accurate including PAYE, Pensions and other salary sacrifice benefits
11. Effective communication and reporting on payroll performance measures to internal and external stakeholders. Manage any escalations to a satisfactory and professional conclusion
12. Management of payments to employees and third parties including HMRC
13. Management and development of a high performing team and manage external payroll advisor relationships.
We are looking for someone who has:
14. Strong technical knowledge of payroll processing
15. Team management experience
16. Variable pay experience
17. Ability to show initiative and work independently to resolve problems and produce results
18. Ability to cope with demanding and fast-paced environment
19. User of Resource link payroll software
20. Use of JIRA project tracking software
21. Experience if integrated HR & Payroll systems
