About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join our Alternative Provision (AP) unit, working with a small group of Year 10 and Year 11 pupils on a GCSE pathway.
The cohort consists of up to 6 pupils with low-level additional needs, including:
* ADHD
* ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition)
* Lower-level Functional Skills needs
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and supporting young people to achieve both academically and personally within a nurturing, structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with GCSE and Functional Skills curricula
* Differentiate learning to meet individual pupil needs
* Create a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment
* Support pupils with emotional regulation, engagement, and confidence
* Monitor progress and contribute to assessments, reports, and reviews
* Work collaboratively with SEN staff, teaching assistants, and external professionals
Person Specification
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent
* Experience working with SEN pupils, ideally within PRU/AP or similar settings
* Strong understanding of ADHD and ASC
* Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
* Patient, resilient, and flexible approach to teaching
