The role
We are working closely with a local authority in Vale of Glamorgan to assist with the appointment of a Disabled Facilities Grants Officer , on a 6 -months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Rate of Pay : £20.14- £26.59 per hour Summary: The Disabled Facilities Grants Officer is responsible for delivering a comprehensive grants agency service to support residents in accessing housing adaptations and improvement works that enable independent living and improve quality of life. The post holder will manage Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) applications from initial enquiry through to project completion, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, financial regulations, and Council policies. Responsibilities : Undertake initial property inspections and grant surveys to determine eligibility for Disabled Facilities Grants and other housing assistance schemes. Complete detailed Property Condition Schedules identifying all required repairs, improvements, and adaptation works. Submit applications for Building Control approval, Planning Permission, and other statutory consents as required. Supervise building and adaptation works throughout the project lifecycle to ensure quality, compliance, and timely completion. Identify opportunities for suitable Block Repair Schemes and contribute to their development and implementation. Ensure all case files, documentation, and financial records are maintained to audit standards. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and general nature of the post as reasonably required by the Chief Officer. Qualifications: Minimum HNC or equivalent qualification in Building Construction or a related discipline. Essentials: Minimum of two years' post-qualification experience in building construction or a related field. Knowledge and experience of working within a relevant service delivery environment. CAD drawing skills. Full UK driving licence. Please note: You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
