Description Team Leader Homeless Drug and Alcohol Team Portsmouth Full time (37 hrs p/w) Fixed term until 31 st March 2026, potentially becoming permanent (to be confirmed) Salary Scale 31-33 (£34,850 - £36,934) About Us This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Charity and Housing Association. The Society of St James (SSJ) has been working in Hampshire for over 40 years, delivering high impact, person-centred, accommodation services to adults and young people experiencing homelessness, problematic substance use and mental health problems. The Role The Homeless Drug and Alcohol Team is a project funded to meet the needs of people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and who are using drugs and/or alcohol. The service has been established to fill gaps in existing service provision and to make substance use treatment more accessible for those who find it difficult to access mainstream services. This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced Team Leader to join a growing team, and to support in the development of a psychologically informed service. The ideal candidate will have experience of working within homelessness and substance use services and will understand both pharmacological and psychosocial models used in substance use treatment. The candidate will have experience of multi-agency working and be able to present the service in a positive manner to key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be passionate and innovative in their approach to service development and delivery, and will be able to work closely with the current team and Manager to develop the service. The team will be operating 7 days per week including some weekends, evenings and bank holidays. The Ideal Candidate Essentially motivated individuals who will be able to: Work closely with and support the Manager in developing the service, including the development and implementation of a variety of interventions across the service. Develop understanding of the changing needs and demands of the client group and lead the team to deliver the service accordingly. Support the Manager to develop and implement local policies, procedures and work practices to ensure the effective and safe operation of the service. Be responsible for ensuring that staff are carrying out their duties correctly and safely and support the Manager with service user and staff issues as required. Hold a small caseload of service users and deliver a range of interventions as required. Provide both day-to-day work supervision and formal supervision to staff. Ensure that the service is staffed adequately at all times and that rotas are monitored and updated to ensure absent staff are covered where necessary. Support existing partnership working arrangements and support the Manager to facilitate the development of new partnerships that support the ongoing development of the Service.
