Role Overview & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Test and Development Team Lead, the Test and Development Engineer is primarily responsible for conception, development and maintenance of product qualification and acceptance test programmes for the company’s Connector and Interconnect product portfolios. The role focuses on new product development and also supports existing, legacy and sustaining products, and may include testing for third‑party products.
Key Responsibilities – Test & Development
* Create and oversee test programmes for new and existing products, utilising internal and external test facilities domestically and overseas as necessary.
* Interpret technical requirements and test methods.
* Write concise test specifications and operating procedures.
* Conceptualise and design test jigs, fixtures and custom test equipment.
* Assist lab technicians with interpretation of test requirements, troubleshooting failures and ongoing testing activities.
* Analyse test results and compile findings in technical reports.
Key Responsibilities – Projects
Process a development project from inception to test report handover, including preparing test plans, methods, specifications, tender and material requirements.
* Monitor and ensure timely completion of testing activities.
* Identify and mitigate project risks affecting time, resources and scope.

* Provide consultation during product or project conception, design and initial product specifications.
* Identify and mitigate design and project risks affecting time, resources and scope.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
Ideal candidate profile:
* Strong, clear communication skills and high proficiency in written English due to extensive technical writing.
* Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
* Practical experience in defence and aerospace, mass transportation, medical, industrial, alternative energy or automotive sectors.
* Experience in a highly regulated technical role with ability to interpret and transpose complex standards and specifications.
Additional experience that would be beneficial:
* Knowledge of connector product development.
* Previous experience working in a test environment in an engineering role, preferably with electrodynamic shaker equipment.
