Child Support Worker / Buddy (P/T) – Ref: 010/Cumnock/JL – Location: Cumnock.
Hours & Pay
Hours: 10 hours per week (initially) – Mon – Fri 3:15pm – 5:15pm plus occasional additional hours to be confirmed. Pay: £12.60 per hour.
About the Child
Support will mainly be for school collection each day (Mon to Fri) at 3:15pm until 5:15pm. Additional hours during school holidays may be required. The child is a 10‑year‑old boy with Nonverbal Autism, OCD, Sensory Processing Disorder and Developmental Delay.
He is encouraged to take part in activities and assistance with personal care. Interests include swimming and trampolining. He attends ‘Sen swim’ with the family once a month. Support with this activity will be required, including getting him changed and safety support in the community.
The child has no safety awareness or concept of danger and may run off. The successful applicant must be alert at all times.
Responsibilities
* Support and encourage the child to take part in activities and provide personal care assistance.
* Assist with family outings, considering the childs younger sister.
* Use timing prompts to prepare the child for planned activities and reduce anxieties.
* Help manage behaviour with patience and the ability to manage anxiety.
* Support the child during community activities, ensuring safety.
* Drive with your own car, current clean driver’s licence and business insurance.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience in SEN (Special Educational Needs) is essential. Non‑Verbal Autism experience preferred but not essential.
Driver with a full clean licence, own car and business insurance. Mileage allowance payable if using car.
Probation & References
This position is subject to a 6‑month probationary period. Successful applicants will provide two references (one of which must be your current or most recent employer) and undergo a New PVG Disclosure at the employers cost.
