Surrey County Council Senior Social Worker Assessment Team The Role As a Senior Social Worker , you will manage a complex caseload and lead on high-quality, relationship-based practice across a range of specialist teams, including: Family Safeguarding Assessment Teams Looked After Children & Care Leavers Family Safeguarding Hub You'll take a lead role in supporting vulnerable children by completing assessments, managing risk, and driving plans that improve outcomes. Key Responsibilities Manage a complex caseload involving children, families and carers Undertake strengths-based assessments and develop SMART care plans Lead child protection investigations and safeguarding interventions Chair multi-agency meetings such as strategy discussions, CIN reviews and permanency planning Work collaboratively with partners including health, education, police and legal services Support children to remain safely within their families where possible, or progress care proceedings when necessary Provide mentoring and supervision to less experienced staff Maintain accurate, high-quality case records in line with statutory requirements What We're Looking For Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW or equivalent) Registration with Social Work England (or working towards) Substantial experience in children's social care within a UK statutory setting Strong knowledge of childcare legislation and safeguarding frameworks Proven ability to manage risk and make sound professional decisions in complex situations Excellent communication and partnership working skills Experience of supervision, mentoring or leadership is desirable Connect2Socialwork is a trading style of Commercial Services Trading LTD - A company wholly owned by Kent County Council.
