Offer description

Overview

Join to apply for the Children's Intervention/Residential Support Worker role at Fair Ways.

Who are Fair Ways and what do we stand for? Fair Ways is a great place to work. We are a team. We care about each other and are all committed to making a change to the lives of the young people and service users in our care. We celebrate our staff by shouting it from the rooftops and consider them world-class.

Where and when do we need you? We are looking for Support Workers to join our fantastic team in our small collection of Children’s Residential and Intervention Homes in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Our intervention homes accommodate up to 5 children aged up to 18 who have experienced trauma and possible placement disruption, who may present with behaviours of concern. We have recently expanded our provision and are opening a residential children’s home in early 2025, giving us the opportunity to engage a number of young people beyond the 12-week intervention programme, supporting a transition into long term foster care or supported living. Situated in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, young people engage in a programme of outdoor activities that support building relationships and therapeutic work focusing on self-esteem, identity and pro-social coping skills to keep themselves and others safe.

Responsibilities

* Be a trauma-informed professional — provide trauma-informed responses through the individualised use of therapeutic approaches and, where appropriate, physical intervention to support young people during times of crisis.
* Keep Children Safe — manage child protection issues through effective reporting in line with policies and procedures, and understand risk assessments and individual behaviour support plans to provide a safe environment.
* Uphold appropriate professional boundaries — maintain safe, respectful relationships with young people, providing effective support and guidance while adhering to best practice.
* Provide encouragement and support — help young people engage in outdoor and indoor activities to build confidence, self-esteem and learn new skills through alternative education, supporting sustainable outcomes.
* Make a house a home — maintain a clean, tidy and homely environment, promote high standards of physical care, hygiene and safety, and model healthy choices to help children thrive.
* Accurate recording, reporting and communication — document and share relevant information with colleagues and professionals to safeguard the welfare of the young people.

This role is offered as a permanent position.
