Our core laboratory is based at The Halo Building in London WC1H 9AX, with an expanding site in Manchester and smaller hospital-based laboratories across the country.
Role and responsibilities
A vacancy has arisen for a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) in the Microbiology Department at Watford & Hemel Hempstead Hospitals following the Pathology and Phlebotomy services programme. The role involves performing routine preparation and tests, including basic analytical processes, accurately and efficiently under supervision. You will enter patient requests into the pathology computer system (WinPath and Helix) and carry out clerical and technical tasks in accordance with sample handling procedures. You will assist in handling and distribution of incoming/outgoing goods, equipment, specimens and reagents, and manage the laboratory users Helpdesk. The laboratory operates 24/7, so you will be expected to participate in shifts including weekends and weekday late shifts.
