Your new role
As Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for delivering accurate,pliant, and timely payroll across a diverse multi‑site workforce. You will oversee weekly and monthly payroll operations, manage payroll controls, and ensure strong alignment between finance, HR, and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Managing end‑to‑end weekly and monthly payroll cycles
2. Ensuring fullpliance with HMRC requirements (RTI, PAYE, NIC, statutory payments)
3. Managing pension schemes and auto‑enrolment obligations
4. Overseeing payroll reconciliations, audit trails, and control processes
5. Acting as the key contact for payroll queries across the organisation
6. Managing, developing, and supporting payroll staff
7. Producing payroll reports, KPIs, and labour cost analysis for senior leadership
8. Supporting payroll‑related systems upgrades and process improvements
9. Ensuring accurate Time & Attendance data integration
10. Partnering with HR and Finance on new initiatives, contracts, benefits, and organisational changes
What you'll need to succeed
11. Strong experience managing payroll in a medium‑to‑large environment
12. In‑depth technical knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements
13. Experience with payroll controls, reconciliations, and audit processes
14. Solid systems capability (knowledge of modern payroll systems beneficial)
15. Excellent attention to detail and amitment to accuracy
16. Confidence managing high volumes and tight deadlines
17. Strongmunication skills with the ability to support managers at all levels
18. Experience supervising or mentoring payroll colleagues
