Overall purpose of role The role of Warehouse Operative/Production Assistant is crucial in the overall day to day running and success of Spice Kitchen. You are responsible for ensuring our orders go out to our customers on time, looking great. Nothing is more important to us than that. About Spice Kitchen We are a family-run spice company founded in 2012 by mother and son duo Shashi and Sanjay Aggarwal. Everything we do is rooted in Shashi’s deep knowledge of spices and Indian Masalas and is powered by Sanjay’s love of cooking with flavours from around the world. We sell direct-to-consumer through our own digital store and also B2B to a number of delis, farm shops and retailers, and we are in a period of rapid growth locally and internationally. Main duties and responsibilities Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will work within a highly skilled and dedicated team, with specific duties and responsibilities across the following:- Production Kitchen Operation of filling machines to produce bags of spices in accordance with the daily/weekly workload requirements Production of spice blends following the Spice Kitchen product specification for each blend Ensuring that allergens are correctly dealt with using the SALSA guidelines – swab tests, high level cleaning and separate filling machines and utensils are used Labelling of all products to the required company standards and procedures, including the labelling of all raw materials and works in progress Maintaining stock levels of bagged spices to the required level (this will vary due to the time of year) Ensuring that all production areas are always clean and tidy and maintain a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring that all Spice Kitchen standards are complied with Ensure that all SALSA documents are completed on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis General Warehouse Assembly of finished product in accordance with the daily/weekly workload requirements Picking orders Packing orders Goods Out – ensure that all deliveries for our customers are correctly picked and packed and placed in the Goods Out area with the correct documentation in time for Parcel Force and Royal Mail collections Goods In - ensure that all items received in the warehouse are checked against expected quantity/quality and booked in. Relevant paperwork to be completed Goods Returns – ensure that all returned stock is checked and entered onto a Goods Return form to be given to the office. All good stock is to be booked in and returned into general stock Ensuring that all warehouse areas are always clean and tidy and maintain a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring that all Spice Kitchen standards are complied with Ensure that all SALSA documents are completed on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis Requirements: Basic Numeracy and Literacy Ability to accurately understand and follow instructions and complete required work records. Attention to Detail Focussed on quality and accuracy to ensure production specifications are adhered to. Teamwork Ability to work well within a team, contributing to the achievement of production targets and helping colleagues when necessary. Organisational Skills Ability to manage own work load and working environment to operate in an efficient and tidy manner in accordance with company standards.
