Overview
This is a temporary Sous Chef role at Avery Healthcare, a leading provider of luxury elderly care homes in the UK. The role involves supporting the Head Chef in leading a culinary team that provides high-quality, nutritionally balanced meals for residents.
Job responsibilities
* Support the Head Chef in leading a culinary team to provide a nutritionally balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality culinary service, contributing to residents’ well-being and achieving within budget.
* Prepare modified diets that look appealing and are well-balanced in accordance with IDDSI guidance.
* Supervise and direct the work of culinary staff, providing instruction and demonstrations to unqualified staff on simple food preparation activities.
* Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are met and support the team in understanding the Avery Food Safety Management System.

Qualifications
* Hold a relevant catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent).
* Have a minimum of 1 year of catering experience.
* Demonstrate compassion and commitment to delivering high-quality culinary services to residents.
* Be adaptable and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

* ADBS Disclosure check, the cost of which will be met by Avery Healthcare.
* Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
