I'm supporting a respected school based in Warwick who are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to cover a period of maternity leave. This is a key role within the school's central support function, overseeing the delivery of a compliant, accurate and timely payroll service for teaching and support staff. This is a fully office‑based role within the Warwick site and would suit someone who enjoys working in an education environment, supporting a diverse workforce, and ensuring smooth payroll operations in line with school policies and statutory requirements. Key Responsibilities Manage the end‑to‑end payroll for teaching and non‑teaching staff, including term-time only workers, casual staff, supply cover, and variable hours. Ensure correct application of Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS) and Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) contributions, rules, and reporting requirements. Process maternity, paternity, sickness, and other statutory payments in line with school and statutory policies. Oversee payroll reconciliations and monthly reporting, working closely with HR and the School Business Manager. Maintain accurate records for safeguarding and compliance audits. Ensure all payroll processes align with safer recruitment and safeguarding guidelines. Handle complex payroll queries sensitively and professionally. Keep up to date with changes in education-sector payroll legislation and pension rules. Manage the administration of payroll systems and ensure data integrity. Support with year‑end tasks such as P60s, P11Ds, and pension year-end submissions. Experience & Skills Required Previous experience managing payroll in a school, multi-academy trust, or similar public sector/education environment. Strong understanding of TPS and LGPS processes and pension compliance. Experience handling complex payroll for varied working patterns and term‑time structures. Excellent working knowledge of UK payroll legislation. High attention to detail and accuracy. Confident working in a busy, people-focused environment where discretion and professionalism are essential. Strong communication skills, particularly when dealing with teachers, support staff, and senior leadership. Previous use of education payroll or HR systems beneficial (e.g., SIMS, Arbor, iTrent, or similar). Why This Opportunity?
