A rare opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated full-time or part-time Band 3 health care assistant to join our team, with posts available in either Doddington or Huntingdon.
The main aspect of the role is to care for patients with chronic respiratory disease in the home setting and in our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Classes.
The post involves supporting health care professionals in providing expert care for respiratory patients, helping to prevent avoidable hospital attendances, providing support following hospital admission, assisting in Pulmonary Rehabilitation Classes, and promoting focused self-management.
The successful candidate will work flexibly across the countywide respiratory service as needed.
We are a supportive and friendly team. While respiratory and/or community experience is preferred, full training and support are available.
Main duties of the job
1. Work as a member of the Community Respiratory Team, alongside support workers, nurses, and physiotherapists. Use skills from Nursing, Allied Health Professionals, and Medicines Management to undertake delegated tasks tailored to individual needs, such as inhaler technique reviews, home exercise programmes, or oxygen reviews.
2. Support physiotherapists in delivering face-to-face and virtual pulmonary rehabilitation programmes. Motivate and support patients throughout the course.
3. Assist in delivering high standards of health care and support community patients, focusing on avoiding hospital admissions.
4. Perform functional assessments, including mobility, exercise, and equipment needs.
5. Support staff in managing clinical practice and carry out delegated duties under supervision.
6. Provide high-quality care and manage a caseload of patients with complex needs requiring ongoing support.
