Position: Artist Location: Oxford/Oxfordshire preferably but its UK -wide with the flexibility to travel within the UK Overview We are seeking a talented and passionate Artist to collaborate with our creative production team on community-focused public art commissions. The ideal candidate is a versatile visual artist with a strong eye for storytelling, site-specific design, and the ability to translate creative concepts into impactful public artwork. This is an exciting opportunity to work on meaningful, high-profile projects that combine art, community engagement, and place-making. Key Responsibilities - Design and produce original, high-quality artwork for public and community-based settings - Work in a variety of mediums including (but not limited to) light, mural, installation, digital or mixed media - Collaborate closely with creative producers and project partners to develop concepts from brief through to installation - Conduct community engagement sessions (e.g. workshops, school visits, consultations) - Produce sketches, mock-ups, or digital renderings to communicate creative direction - Prepare installation plans, material lists, and risk assessments as required - Ensure the artwork is delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard - Participate in client and stakeholder meetings as needed - Stay informed on public art trends, environmental considerations, and inclusive design principles - Follow copyright, licensing and attribution standards when using references or collaborative materials Requirements - A strong portfolio showcasing public art, installation, or community-based artwork - Proven experience creating and delivering large-scale or site-specific works - Confident working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team - Able to demonstrate creative sensitivity to place, culture, and community identity - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — especially in public-facing work - Flexible, self-motivated, and well-organised with strong time management - Understanding of accessibility, sustainability, and safety in public art contexts - Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or relevant design/visualisation tools - A degree in Fine Art or equivalent professional experience is desirable but not essential We Welcome Applications From Individual artists or collectives and Artists from underrepresented backgrounds Those with experience in socially engaged practice, mural art, lighting design, or creative placemaking How to Apply - Please send your CV or artist bio A short statement (max 500 words) about your practice and interest in this role A portfolio or link to recent work
