The Role
The Transport Manager will be responsible for managing transport operations, leading the team and ensuring full compliance across the fleet. This is a hands‑on role with accountability for people, vehicles and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and lead the transport team, including recruitment, training, and performance management
* Oversee daily transport operations to ensure efficiency, service levels, and compliance
* Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, operator licence requirements, and health & safety standards
* Manage the commercial vehicle fleet, including servicing, MOTs, inspections, and repairs
* Oversee pallet and cage control
* Manage incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions
* Monitor performance, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
* Strong transport management experience is essential
* Proven knowledge of transport compliance, legislation, and health & safety
* Experience leading and managing teams
* Experience within foodservice transport would be advantageous
* CPC qualification desirable but not essential
* Organised, proactive, and confident working in a fast‑paced transport environment
