An opportunity to join the senior management team at Citizens Advice Mid Merica has arisen as the current Head of Finance.
We are looking for a committed individual to lead the Finance team whose main responsibilities will include leading the charities finance function and advising on financial strategic direction.
The successful candidate will play a key role supporting the Chief Executive to ensure the sustainability and growth of the organisation. As the applications come in would ya ensure they are sent my way and any that are suitable for interview we'll arrange ad hoc.
* Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
* Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
* Location: Hybrid Working – a few days per week from one of our offices and a few days from home depending on service needs.

Overview of Citizens Advice Mid Mercia
Citizens Advice Mid Mercia is an independent member of the Citizens Advice network, which is made up of the national charity and a network of local Citizens Advice members.
Citizens Advice Mid Mercia delivers free, impartial, independent and confidential advice, training, peer support and advocacy services. Services are delivered across South Derbyshire, Derby City, East Staffordshire (Burton-upon-Trent and Uttoxeter) and Tamworth.
Citizens Advice Mid Mercia has over 60 members of staff and many volunteers delivering services from four main offices and community venues.
The Role
The Head of Finance will oversee the daily running of the Finance office, maintain the income schedule, cashflow management, VAT return, oversee payroll and pensions, prepare the monthly and quarterly Management Accounts, line manage the Finance Assistant, Assist the CEO and DCEO and Funding team with bids and financial analysis.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Advising the CEO strategically on financial direction
* Maintaining the Income schedule and keeping it up to date
* Raising of Income invoices on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
* Line Management of Finance Assistants, one of which is Level 3 AAT qualified
* Administration and reconciliation & journal of pension schemes
* Preparation and posting of nominal journals
* Reconciliation of bank and balance sheet accounts
* Reconciliation of partnership accounts
* Prepare and submit quarterly Vat return based on the partial exemption method
* Support with Budget and Forecasts
* Cashflow analysis and investment of excess funds
* Financial administration of CA legal advice services including purchase, sales, and production of management accounts.
* Oversee monthly payroll – checking changes, salary sacrifice calculations, nominal journal
* Dealing with Staff payroll queries re tax, pension, maternity, sickness etc
* Production of monthly expenditure report
* Production of management accounts including calculation of accruals, prepayments, deferred income, accrued income, depreciation
* Support with processing of purchase invoices and expense claims when Finance Assistant (FA) on leave
* Support with bank payments and authorisation process when FA on leave
* Posting and reconciliation of the Lloyds Charge card when FA on leave
* Posting and reconciliation of the Amazon supplier account when FA on leave
* Oversee the annual Audit process
* Deal with HMRC, Charities Commission & Companies house
* Support CEO, DCEO and Funding team with financial analysis, strategy and bids
* Active member of the Operations Team, Senior Management Team, Executive Team and Finance & Planning Sub-Committee
Person Specification
Essential
* 5+ years' experience
* AAT/ACCA qualified or qualified by experience
* Good experience of the Microsoft Suite including Excel, Word and Powerpoint
* Good experience of payroll, salary sacrifice and pensions
Desirable
* Good experience of Quickbooks accounts system
Probation Period
9 months – with possible extension if performance review is required.
