Job Title Legal Cashier Job Location Cheltenham Description About the role This is a maternity cover role within a recently expanded Cashiering and Disbursements team to enhance the team ability to support the wider business needs and driving improvement and efficiency. You will be responsible for providing an excellent legal cashiering service, including regular international transactions, which are fully compliant with the Solicitor's Accounts Rules (SAR). The role includes, but is not limited to: Processing office and client account transactions in accordance with SAR and firm policies. Responsibility of IPO account transactions and all related tasks Processing counsel fee and expert invoices including reconciliation of the vendor accounts Support transactional banking queries from disbursement suppliers, bank, international intermediaries, internal "clients" (RM's, wider finance, legal teams, BM teams), bank and external clients. Advising on all client related banking queries including international payments, liaising with our bank contact as appropriate. Review and first release of all client payments Supporting the SRA audit information requirements Strictly following process documentation for key tasks within the role, including deadlines and timescales being set, and working proactively to improve these further, supporting direction received from Financial Controller/Deputy COFA Assisting with month end reporting and duties Ad-hoc requests required by Senior Legal Cashier This list is not exhaustive and other duties and projects may be assigned to you commensurate with the general nature of the role. About you You will have good legal cashiering experience and able to demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of legal cashiering processes and procedures. Your experience must include experience of handling international payments, ideally across a range of countries. You will, of course, be able to demonstrate strong skills relating to attention to detail, accuracy and prioritisation etc. as well as working under pressure with tight deadlines alongside a thorough and up to date knowledge of the Solicitor's Accounts Rules. You will be resourceful and adept at problem solving, forward thinking, always supporting the department to provide an excellent service to the firm and our clients. You will be available to commence work by 1 February (ideally much sooner - we would be happy for you to start from January onwards). As a maternity cover role our expectation is that the contract will extend until around May 2027. Our usual expectation is for 50% office attendance for this fixed term contract.
