Join to apply for the RMN Staff Nurse role at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join us in Heathfield Ward, based at the Department of Psychiatry, Eastbourne.
We are a part of The Department of Psychiatry, set alongside Eastbourne's District General Hospital. The Department of Psychiatry has three on-site inpatient wards for adults with mental health problems: Heathfield Ward, Amberley Ward & Bodiam Ward. We are building a new hospital in Bexhill to replace our inpatient services at the Department of Psychiatry. This means that, if you are successful in your application, you will transfer to the new facility when it opens in late 2026.
Responsibilities
* Undertake assessments of patients with complex mental health needs as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team
* Deliver patient‑centred holistic care and work closely with OT’s, psychologists and doctors in supporting patients in their recovery
* Develop care and recovery plans in collaboration with patients and their families/carers
* Regularly assess, review and manage risk
* Act as a Primary Nurse, providing clinical and managerial leadership on the ward
* Supervise junior staff and trainees to develop skills and experience
* Contribute to a high level of job satisfaction by helping people adjust and recover from acute mental health issues in later life
