Wokingham Borough Council is offering an initial temporary contract (3‑6 months) with the possibility of extension or permanent employment for the right candidate. The rate is negotiable based on experience.
The position is a Democratic Services Officer (RG401WH) and is hybrid.
Responsibilities
* Support the Council’s formal decision‑making and other democratic processes, ensuring efficient operation and compliance with legislation and the Council’s Constitution.
* Serve meetings of Council committees, sub‑committees and other bodies; advise on terms of reference and ensure procedures and documents comply with relevant legislative and corporate requirements.
* Prepare agendas, decision sheets, minutes, reports and associated correspondence for a number of Council committees and formal meetings.
* Provide guidance, advice and support to Councillors and Officers on the operation of decision‑making processes, statutory provisions, and interpretation of the Council’s Constitution.
* Support elected Councillors in their role, including arranging induction/briefing sessions and advising on registration of interests.
Qualifications
* Experience supporting formal committee/decision‑making processes or working in a similar environment.
* Experience supporting elections and electoral work.
