Exciting Opportunity for a Bridge Team Leader
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Bridge Team Leader to join a local authority's Highways Service, leading on the management and maintenance of highway structures as part of an ambitious and safety-focused infrastructure team. This role offers flexible hybrid working, with a balance between office, site, and remote working tailored to operational needs.
This role is integral to the effective design, inspection, asset management and delivery of highway structure maintenance and improvement schemes. The successful candidate will provide expert leadership on structural design and delivery, take ownership of programme planning and budget oversight, and ensure robust compliance with CDM regulations and best practice. This is a high-impact position with direct responsibility for both people and programme management within a collaborative highways environment.
The main duties of the Bridge Team Leader are:
·Lead on asset management planning, lifecycle forecasting, and structural maintenance strategy
·Oversee inspections, programme development, and ensure legislative compliance across structures
·Design, manage, and supervise highway structure schemes to a high technical standard
·Support budget profiling, procurement planning, and compliance reporting
·Contribute to cross-team delivery of capital and maintenance workstreams
·Develop reports for senior leaders and support funding applications through technical insight
·Supervise contractors and internal staff, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of all works
·Engage with councillors, residents, businesses, and emergency services throughout project delivery
·Champion customer-focused outcomes, ensuring that programmes reflect public priorities and safety standards
The Bridge Team Leader will have key experience in:
·Delivering end-to-end asset management for highway structures
·Leading the design and delivery of highway structure schemes and structural inspections
·Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and safety legislation
·Managing budgets, spend profiles, and financial reporting systems
·Contract supervision, programme planning, and team leadership
·Working with a diverse range of stakeholders, from elected members to community groups
·Corporate membership of the ICE or equivalent, with strong civil engineering credentials
·Using highway-specific systems including Confirm and MS Project
