Programme Finance Accountant, International Development Organisation, £48k, Central London
A renowned global development organisation is seeking a Programme Finance Accountant to support its dynamic international programmes team. This is a brilliant opportunity to play a key role in managing complex donor-funded grants, working closely with the Programme Finance Manager to ensure robust financial controls, compliance, and insightful donor reporting across the grant life cycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead on grant management, ensuring compliance with donor requirements at every stage.
* Monitor programme spend, flag variances, and schedule regular grant review meetings.
* Maintain up-to-date internal tools and grant trackers to monitor financial performance.
* Support donor financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
* Prepare budgets and forecasts for grant proposals and revisions.
* Manage sub-grant agreements, cash flow requests, and financial reporting to partners.
* Ensure procurement, accounting, and audit processes meet donor and internal standards.
* Conduct due diligence on new donors and partners.
* Provide support during audits and internal reviews.
* Willingness to travel internationally for site visits (2–3 times per year).
What We’re Looking For
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in financial accounting, ideally within a grants-funded setting.
* Proven track record in grant management and donor financial reporting.
* Strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial systems management.
* Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
* Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is desirable.
* Experience in an international development organisation or NGO is highly desirable.
* French language skills would be an advantage.
