Calderdale Royal Hospital is recruiting a Specialist Biomedical Scientist with expertise in Histological Dissection. Candidates must hold the IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology or an MSc in Cellular Pathology, and possess the IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological Dissection. Flexibility to work early‑morning, weekend, and cross‑site shifts to Huddersfield is required.
Responsibilities
* Carry out routine investigations within the Cellular Pathology department and ensure the quality of the service.
* Prepare, dissect, and analyse a range of specimens in compliance with consultant histopathologist guidelines.
* Rotate regularly between histology, andrology, non‑gynae cytology, and the mortuary service.
* Support and train junior staff, and contribute to laboratory and clinical audit activities.
* Treat as part of the extended working rota and participate in continuous professional development, including completion of the IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological Dissection within three years.
Qualifications & Requirements
* IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology or MSc in Cellular Pathology.
* IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological Dissection.
* Demonstrated competence across Cellular Pathology and a willingness to maintain rotating skills.
* Ability to work early, weekend and cross‑site shifts.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and audit participation.
