The purpose of ABLs Be U Norfolk Service is to provide assessments for adults on the autism diagnostic pathway via the NHS.
Main duties of the job
Key duties and responsibilities include delivering high-quality autism assessments for adults across Norfolk, supporting the diagnostic process using tools such as ADOS‑2 (training provided), screening referrals, contributing to personalised care plans, and producing clear diagnostic reports for clients, families and professionals. The role involves maintaining accurate records and outcome measures, managing caseload updates, delivering assessments in appropriate settings, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide information and support to clients, carers and relevant professionals. The postholder will contribute to integrated care pathways, service development, delegated projects, and continuous improvement initiatives, while monitoring practice against professional standards and reporting any service delivery issues. Additional responsibilities include attending mandatory training and professional meetings, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of policies and evidence-based practice, engaging in supervision and reflective practice, supporting the development of others, and participating in audits, quality assurance programmes and research activities at local and regional level.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Professional qualification and registered with a professional body, such as Mental Health Nurse, Adult/Child Nurse, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Play Therapy, SENDCO, etc.
* ADOS and ADIr certification
Experience
* Experience with adults who have complex communication, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
* Experience in administering and reporting ADOS and ADIr assessments.
* Experience of work within mental health settings or other healthcare settings.
* Experience in conducting autism assessments
Other duties may be undertaken as reasonably required to support the Be U Norfolk service.
