Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Basildon Borough Council in recruiting an Interim Building & Fire Safety Manager on a full-time, 6-month temporary basis. Please note this role is being offered on a hybrid basis.

The Role
You will be responsible for ensuring that all Basildon Borough Councils buildings comply with applicable building and fire safety legislation.
Key deliverables
1. Ensure compliance with all building and fire safety legislation, regulations, and best practice
2. Develop and implement policies, procedures, management plans and workflows
3. Lead on the development and implementation of a Building Safety Management System
4. Provide support and advice to the Accountable Persons and Principal Accountable Person to ensure compliance with their statutory duties
5. Lead on the development and implementation of Building Safety Case Reports and supporting evidence for high-risk buildings
6. Ensure suitable and sufficient Fire Risk Assessments are completed and reviewed
7. Manage and monitor fire safety and building safety actions through to completion
8. Establish monitoring systems and compile Key Performance Indicators
9. Assist in the development and implementation of Resident Engagement Strategies
10. Manage complaints in relation to building and fire safety, including undertaking corrective action
11. Ensure accurate and auditable building information records are in place and maintained
The experience you will bring
12. Degree in Fire Engineering, Building Construction, Building Surveying, or related discipline
13. Level 4 qualification in fire safety
14. Membership of a relevant professional body, such as IFE, IFSM, RICS, IOSH
15. Significant experience in managing building and fire safety compliance
16. Experience of managing high risk buildings
17. Experience interpreting building and fire safety regulations
18. Experience in managing FRAs and corrective action
19. Experience managing contractors and consultants and compliance programmes
