Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only | Temp to Perm Potential
We are seeking a caring, proactive, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Key Stage 2 with sensory processing difficulties. This is a full-time role starting in September 2025, ideal for someone with a genuine passion for inclusive education and an understanding of how sensory needs can impact learning and behaviour.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking and inclusive primary school in Rickmansworth, where pupils are supported to thrive both academically and emotionally.
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting a pupil's daily school experience. * Implement sensory strategies and calming techniques to help the child manage sensory overload
* Prepare and adapt classroom materials and resources to meet the pupil's sensory profile
* Liaise regularly with class teachers, SENDCo, and external professionals
* Help promote a safe and structured environment, both in class and during less structured times such as break or lunchtime
* Use visual supports, routines, and sensory tools to reduce anxiety and aid communication
* Contribute to regular review meetings and keep clear, consistent records of progress and observations
The school is a supportive and inclusive primary setting that places strong emphasis on the wellbeing and development of every child. Staff work closely as a team to provide a caring, creative, and stimulating environment where pupils feel secure and ready to learn. The leadership team prioritises collaboration, professional development, and a whole-school commitment to inclusion.
* Experience supporting children in a school or SEN setting
* Knowledge or training in sensory processing needs (or willingness to learn)
* A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to adapt to changing situations and provide consistent support
* Ideally a relevant qualification such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent
