The Head of Clinical Workforce will be responsible for the day to day leadership of the Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional (AHP) Workforce team The Head of Clinical Workforce will be accountable to the Deputy Chief Nurse and will assist in the development of new roles, recruitment and retention pathways that enable best class recruitment onboarding and induction for both unregistered and registered Nurses, Midwiferyand AHP Main duties of the job The Head of Clinical Workforce will support the Deputy Chief Nurse in the development and implementation of workforce action plans and ensure learning is shared across the organisation To work with the senior Nursing leadership team/HR and Organisational Development colleagues to develop and implement the Nursing, Midwifery and AHP Workforce Framework. Job responsibilities • Work independently to duties assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer and Deputy Chief Nurse workforce agenda. • Lead on work streams required to support the implementation of agreed recruitment and retention plan. • Provide an objective and inadept analysis of the current and future Workforce developments and influence the nursing, midwifery and AHP workforce planning. • Produce written documentations that includes status reports and Trust Board reports which require explanations of technical and complex issues. Ensuring the communication is appropriate to the target audience. • Make recommendations on report findings/updates to all levels of the Trust and to external strategic partners as required. • Prepare, co-ordinate and compose nursing workforce reports for internal / external submission, monitoring including those required for regulatory compliance, retention assessment and contractual purposes. • Attend as required internal and external workforce related meetings and lead on actions required by Corporate Nursing as assigned. • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across internal and external organisational boundaries to provide support and advice on nursing workforce activities, and challenges and transformation. • Engage with key stakeholders, including strategic and national policy makers to inform the development of nursing, midwifery and AHP workforce strategy. • To contribute to the development of the Trusts Nursing, Midwifery and AHP Workforce Framework. • In partnership with senior Nursing leaders implement the Trust-wide Nursing, Midwifery and AHP Workforce Framework. • To contribute to the development and application of safe systems, control processes and risk management arrangements that ensure full compliance with internal and external governance and best practice requirementsTo participate in investigations of complaints and untoward incidents as required. Person Specification Qualifications • Registered Nurse, Midwife and/or AHP • First Level degree or equivalent experience • Masters degree or working towards and able to demonstrate equivalent experience related to Health, Leadership and management Knowledge • Ability to work independently, collaboratively and strategically • Demonstrate an understanding of nurse productivity recommendations and any other directives related to Nursing and Midwifery Education • Ability to manage complexity and unpredictability and to make clear decisive decisions when required Experience • Experience of leading and implementing change • Highly developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to lead, motivate, enthuse and involve individuals and teams • Proven ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them • oExperience of embedding robust clinical and corporate systems at local level Skills • Demonstrates leadership and management skills • Broad understanding of Workforce related issues • Committed to the positive leadership and development of Nursing and Midwifery professionals
