Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions and roles. The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our CAMHS service, where Occupational Therapy is an integrated part of the multi‑disciplinary team, as well as delivering unique uni‑professional added value. You will work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team engaging in both team mental health assessment as well as Occupational Therapy assessment, intervention, individual and group work.


Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

* Fixed term, 1 year – full‑time
* Shift pattern: Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm
* Base location: Aranthrue Centre


Key Responsibilities

* Working within Renfrewshire CAMHS multi‑agency structure.
* Independently managing a caseload of complex cases, taking on the role of care manager/key worker as required.
* Acting independently to assess occupational needs of a defined client group, utilising highly specialist skills to assess, implement, grade and evaluate appropriate treatment programmes, whilst incorporating risk assessment to maximise functional independence and rehabilitation potential.
* Acting independently to assess individual service users to determine their need for occupational therapy intervention through client‑centred practice.
* Working collaboratively with service users to identify goals as part of the overall care plan using specialist/standardised assessment tools.


Essential Qualifications

* Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy.
* Registered with the HCPC.
* Uptodate mandatory/statutory training (e.g., Fire Safety, Moving & Handling).
* Ability to work independently and set own clinical priorities within mental health services.
* Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to role and grade.
* Specialist, evidence‑based knowledge of OT assessments, interventions, and outcome measures.
* Understanding of OT models of practice and transferable skills across physical and mental health.
* Ability to independently build effective networks across services and agencies.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to interpret/respond to complex information.
* Basic leadership ability, including supervising and managing the performance of a small OT team.
* Experience contributing to audit activities.
* Knowledge and use of clinical governance principles.
* Understanding of adaptive equipment and its application.
* Basic IT literacy and working knowledge of clinical IT systems.


Desirable Qualifications

* Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
* Ability to analyse complex professional and ethical issues appropriately.
* Critical analysis skills for applying research evidence in specialist practice.
* Experience participating in research activities.

From 1 April 2026

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part‑time working hours will be reduced on a pro‑rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
