Overview
Applications are invited for two LAT posts within the North of Scotland Anaesthetic Training Programme. These posts are for up to nine months and are suitable for residents who have completed stage 1 training in Anaesthesia.
The North of Scotland Anaesthetic Training Programme is delivered through Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in Aberdeen and Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. Posts may be based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary or Raigmore Hospital, depending on the needs of the successful applicant and the training programme overall.
One post will commence on 6 November 2025 until 4 August 2026, and the other from 7 November 2025 until 4 August 2026.
Eligibility and Requirements
Key requirements
* Stage 1 Certificate, or Stage 1 Equivalence Certificate from the Royal College of Anaesthetists, is essential.
* Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required (licence must be in place prior to starting in post).
* Refer to the National Person Specification for Anaesthesia ST 2025 to confirm eligibility for this post.
Programme Details
Both Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Raigmore Hospital have most major surgical specialties on a single site. Maternity and Paediatric services are provided at both sites, while Cardiothoracic and Neurosurgery are provided at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The Aberdeen Medical School has students on both hospital sites, allowing opportunities to become involved in student teaching. Students rotate through anaesthetics at various times in their degree program, and anaesthetic trainees are often actively involved in delivering medical education.
Aberdeen and Inverness are well served by air, rail and road and offer access to the Highlands. Both Inverness and Aberdeen have vibrant city centres and are suitable places to live and work.
