Overview


Job Summary

The SET CAMHS crisis and therapeutic home treatment team offers assessment and interventions to young people presenting with mental deterioration or crisis. The service works within the Thrive model and develops collaborative care plans with community services and the community SET CAMHS team to promote positive outcomes for vulnerable young people and their families. There are opportunities for joint working and coordinating with community-based teams. The approach focuses on meeting the needs of the young person to ensure effective clinical practice and brief therapeutic interventions, and to reduce risk within a stabilising, containing approach. New starters receive a full induction and opportunities to shadow the team and learn about the departments/teams within the SET CAMHS model. Internal candidates seeking career progression and enhanced practice in this client group are welcome. Regular clinical supervision and reflective space are offered, and the team operates on a shared risk model to support collective decision-making and effective formulations of need.

The post holder will benefit from being part of a friendly, supportive, dynamic and developing service based within Essex, with access to supervision (individual and group formats) and CPD through relevant training. Additional development opportunities exist as the service grows, including the chance to contribute to care of young people within the A&E pathway. We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about meeting the needs of young people in crisis and supporting their families, adaptable, and comfortable working independently as well as in a team.


Responsibilities

* Skilled in assessment, formulation, management and delivery of therapy to people experiencing acute mental health crisis in both community and hospital settings.
* Experienced in assessing and managing clinical risk, using dynamic case formulation and working collaboratively with service users to agree treatment and safety plans.
* Possess a current Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapist, Counselling, Psychotherapy or equivalent professional qualification and be skilled in evidence-based therapy approaches (including DBT/CBT/Systemic & Creative therapies).
* Knowledge and experience of legal frameworks relating to care and treatment of children and young people (Children Act 1989, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 1983 as amended).
* Flexibility to work across a 7 days per week, 365 days per year service, including unsociable hours.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with understanding of networks surrounding young people and mental health crises.
* Capability to carry out high-quality mental health and risk assessments and deliver evidence-based talking therapies in settings including homes, colleges, schools, community settings and A&Es.
* Formulate highly specialist care and treatment plans and provide skilled interventions for young people with complex mental health problems, including timely written assessments.
* Demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for delivering high-quality care to young people and their families.
* Use and management of clients’ electronic records and ability to manage busy or complex workloads within a team.

This post is open to Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN), Occupational Therapists (OT), Social Workers, Psychotherapists and Psychological Therapists, Creative Therapists who will provide evidence-based intervention within the Intensive Support Service Community Pathway. Applicants without registration but with significant CAMHS experience may be considered.


Person Specification

* Essential: Professional qualification in a relevant field (e.g., RMN, OT, Social Work, Psychology, Counselling/ Psychotherapy).
* Essential: Professional registration or significant CAMHS experience.
* Essential: Ability to communicate in highly emotive situations and experience of mental health in hospital and community settings.
* Essential: Experience in formulating care and treatment plans.
