Team Leader Elderly Residential Care Location: Southampton Salary: £26,000 £28,000 per annum Hours: Full-Time, Permanent (Typically 37.5 hours per week, including shift work and some weekends) Reports to: Home Manager About the Role: We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Team Leader to support the running of our residential care home for older adults in Southampton. Many of our residents are living with complex health conditions, mobility issues, and are receiving end-of-life and palliative care. The Team Leader will support the Home Manager in leading the care team to provide exceptional person-centred care with sensitivity, empathy, and professionalism. This role requires someone who can lead by example, take responsibility during shifts, and ensure high standards of care, dignity and respect are maintained at all times. Main Responsibilities: Supervise and support care staff on shift, ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner Provide hands-on care where required, including personal care, mobility support, medication administration and end-of-life care Monitor residents physical and emotional well-being, reporting changes and escalating concerns promptly Support the development and review of person-centred care plans and risk assessments Ensure accurate completion of daily records, medication charts, handovers and incident reports Lead by example, demonstrating compassion, professionalism and dignity in all interactions Act as a point of contact for families, visitors, and healthcare professionals during your shift Assist the Home Manager in inducting and mentoring new care staff Ensure that safeguarding, health & safety, and infection control procedures are adhered to at all times Participate in team meetings, training, and staff development initiatives Essential Requirements: Minimum NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Adults) Experience in a senior care or team leader role within a residential or nursing care setting Competent in administering medication and leading shifts Understanding of palliative and end-of-life care Strong leadership, communication and teamwork skills Emotionally resilient and able to support residents and staff during difficult times Must have the right to work in the UK and pass an enhanced DBS check Desirable: Experience with electronic care planning systems (e.g. Person Centred Software, Nourish, or similar) Additional training in dementia, palliative care or mental health Previous experience in a CQC-rated Good or Outstanding home What We Offer: Competitive salary of £26,000 £28,000 per annum Overtime enhancements 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays) Paid breaks and meals on shift Regular training and CPD opportunities Career development pathway into Deputy/Home Manager roles A supportive, team-oriented environment that values kindness and respect
