Job Description
We are currently recruiting for an IT Business Analyst within the Costain Management Office (CMO) team for a 6-month contract while an existing team member is on sabbatical.
The CMO team is part of the wider Strategy & Transformation function, managing organizational change and delivering core IT solutions supporting corporate departments, contracts, and clients. The role will be a 6-month fixed-term contract.
Reporting to the Lead Business Analyst, your primary focus will be on developing IT solutions that support corporate departments and contracts, while also supporting broader organizational change. You will be responsible for creating requirements for new projects and ensuring project management follows our change processes.
You will engage with users and stakeholders across the business, interpret requirements, feed these into the delivery team, and support project management when needed. You will be part of project teams throughout the delivery lifecycle, promoting effective communication and innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
Our project teams utilize ITIL and Agile methods, along with Oracle, Microsoft, or third-party platforms, to deliver value quickly.
You should be able to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously if required.
Key Responsibilities
* Gather, review, analyze, and document business requirements
* Identify key stakeholders, ensure clear communication, and build trusted relationships
* Liaise between different business departments to support requirements gathering
* Maintain documentation related to projects, processes, and operations
* Collaborate with project managers, analysts, and cross-functional teams to support objectives
* Manage smaller projects across their lifecycle as needed
* Build relationships within the Strategy and Transformation team to support delivery
* Contribute to continuous improvement of methods, tools, and techniques within the Business Analyst team
Qualifications
* Experience in business improvement and/or IT operations
* Effective communication and stakeholder influence skills
* Strong leadership qualities
* Creative problem-solving skills
* Ability to remain calm under pressure
* Prioritization skills for critical requirements
* Familiarity with industry technology systems for data gathering and problem-solving
* Understanding of project delivery methodologies (waterfall, agile, hybrid)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and PowerPoint
* Knowledge of project team structures, roles, and responsibilities
* Comfort working with stakeholders of varying seniority, including analysts, clients, and senior leaders
* Desirable: experience in a similar role within a professional services environment
* Desirable: experience delivering Microsoft Azure services
* Desirable: experience with JIRA project tracking software
