About the Role
As an Architect, you will join a highly skilled and newly structured team responsible for understanding current and future requirements for the force, creating roadmaps, setting strategy, and identifying opportunities to leverage information and digital technology.
You will aim to be a key influencer in digital strategy, planning, assurance, and standard setting, both internally with key stakeholders and externally in maximizing value from strategic supplier relationships or collaborations with other forces.

Responsibilities
1. Responsible for detailed software and supporting infrastructure design aspects of solutions;
2. Contribute to impact assessment processes by providing SME input on proposed initiatives and high-level cost estimates for implementation;
3. Define and maintain documentation that describes the current software portfolio and interfaces across the force;
4. Review new or amended legislation and assess its impact on adopted force technology standards;
5. Use architecture to guide and align program solutions for coherence, re-use, and integration, increasing efficiency and business effectiveness;
6. Ensure programs and projects deliver the right technology components, integrated correctly to achieve intended benefits, considering existing investments and avoiding functionality duplication;
7. Present architecture outputs to stakeholders at various levels of technical understanding within the force;
8. Define, manage, and govern infrastructure standards and capabilities for deploying business, data, and application services;
9. Engage with stakeholders to define and promote suitable technology solutions;
10. Participate actively as a member of the Technical Design Authority;
11. Stay informed about commercial and technical developments to advise on future IT & digital solutions;
12. Ensure proposed designs or alterations are well-considered and supportable;
13. Assist in training and developing engineers in new skills and responsibilities.
About you
We welcome expertise in various architectural specialisms (e.g., Technical, Business, Service, Security, Data) as the key skills involve planning, designing, developing, and documenting solutions. A degree qualification or IT-related certifications demonstrating deep knowledge and expertise in your architectural discipline, gained in a similarly complex, multi-faceted organization, is preferred.
Preferred Skills
Strong communication skills are essential as you will lead an exciting architectural and stakeholder engagement journey across the force, building strong relationships internally and nationally. Excellent presentation, influencing, and negotiation skills are also required.
Pay range and compensation package
£60,960 + Benefits. Permanent, Hybrid. Stafford HQ.
