Are you an experienced Building Control professional looking to take the next step in your career?
We’re seeking Building Control Surveyors, who are registered at Class 2 as a minimum, to join a progressive, forward‑thinking Building Control team that plays a key role in ensuring safe,pliant and sustainable development within the local area.
Your new role
As a Building Control Surveyor, you will be responsible for assessing Building Regulation applications, inspecting building works on site, and providing expert advice to a range of stakeholders. You will play an important part in maintaining high standards of construction, supporting safemunities, and upholding statutorypliance across a wide range of projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assess Full Plans submissions, Building Notices and Regularisation Applications forpliance with Building Regulations and related legislation.
2. Conduct site inspections independently to ensure workplies with relevant standards and approved plans.
3. Provide clear technical advice to builders, developers, architects and members of the public.
4. Identify, record andmunicate contraventions during the construction process, advising on corrective actions where required.
5. Prepare reports, maintain detailed inspection records, and issue decision notices within statutory deadlines.
6. Support the assessment and resolution of dangerous structures, which may include participation in an out‑of‑hours rota.
7. Contribute to service quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
8. Assist in the training and development of junior surveyors.
9. Promote Building Control services and maintain strong working relationships with clients and industry partners.
What you'll need to succeed
10. Strong working knowledge of Building Regulations, the Building Act and current construction techniques.
11. Ability to organise a varied caseload, manage priorities and meet statutory deadlines.
12. Confident in negotiating with applicants, contractors and design professionals.
13. Skilled in producing clear technical reports and delivering advice verbally and in writing.
14. Experience working within a Building Control environment (minimum two years), or possession of a relevant qualification if less experienced.
15. Ability to carry out safe and effective site inspections, including working outdoors and at height.
16. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business purposes.
