From electrification and hybrid systems to diesel and powertrain development, this is an opportunity where variety, challenge, and impact come as standard. You will be joining a world‑renowned manufacturer with a proud British heritage, recognised globally for engineering excellence and a bold commitment to sustainable technologies. Their products power thousands of applications worldwide, and their R&D teams are driving the next generation of sustainable solutions.
As a Research & Product Development Technician, you will play a central part in driving forward advanced product development programmes from concept to reality. Working alongside engineering leads, technicians, and external partners, you’ll help transform ambitious technical objectives into real‑world solutions.
What you will be doing:
* Support advanced power system development programmes, reporting progress and insights
* Build stripping, measuring, and testing electrification, hybrid, diesel, and powertrain components
* Carry out electrical safety checks (insulation resistance, ground bonding, Hi‑Pot, CANape/service tools)
* Run and interpret test plans using testbed software, feeding back data for engineering sign‑off
* Work with logistics to source and manage parts/components to specification
* Analyse test data, raising issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives
* Contribute to process, safety, and quality reviews across the facility
What you will bring:
* A solid background in electronics or electrical engineering, with hands‑on mechanical know‑how to match
* Relevant qualifications in the form of a modern apprenticeship, ONC/HNC, degree, or equivalent experience gained on the job
* Practical experience in R&D, electrification, hybrid, or high‑voltage systems (2–6 years is ideal, but strong transferable skills are welcome)
* Confidence using test and calibration tools (CANape, AVL software) or the willingness to learn quickly
* A natural problem‑solver who enjoys diagnosing, repairing, and improving prototype systems
* A strong team player who communicates well and puts safety first in everything you do
* Flexibility to travel occasionally to customer sites or test facilities (mainly UK, with rare EU trips), so a full UK driving licence and passport are essential
What will be beneficial:
* Experience with electric motors (AC/DC), hybrid technology, or battery systems
* Familiarity with transmissions, hydraulics, wiring diagrams, or fabrication/welding
* Background in HGV, construction, or other heavy engineering environments
