Assistant Head of Service
The Education Inclusion Support Service (EISS) works closely with schools, multi-agency teams, families and other partners and commissioners across Kingston and Richmond local authority areas to improve educational outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic and experienced leader, committed to inclusive, trauma-informed practice. Working closely with the Head and Deputy Head of Service, the Assistant Headteacher will be instrumental in supporting service improvement, staff development, and the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong presence across the service, with direct involvement in curriculum development, safeguarding, pastoral care, and behaviour support.
This is a 12 months fixed term position.

About the role
The successful candidate will be a dynamic and experienced leader, committed to inclusive, trauma-informed practice. Working closely with the Head and Deputy Head of Service the Assistant Headteacher will be instrumental in supporting service improvement, staff development, and the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong presence across the service, with direct involvement in curriculum development, safeguarding, pastoral care, and behaviour support.
2. The Assistant Head of Service will model good practice, develop relationships, support training and development and ensure ‘quality first teaching’ is embedded across the phases.
3. Work with the staff to develop a strong learning environment that has at its centre high expectations of learning, work, performance, academic achievement and behaviour.
4. Lead on the transition and or reintegration of students back into school and lead on the design and implementation of bespoke plans to support this.
5. Support senior leaders in the effective day-to-day management of the service and provisions, including recruiting and inducting staff, leading INSETs and staff meetings and responding to the views, needs and requests of children, staff, parents, governors and visitors.

About you
The successful candidate will be:
6. Experience of building strong partnerships, maintaining relationships and co-producing solutions to challenges across a diverse set of stakeholders, including children, young people and their families. Advocating the voices of those we are working with.
7. Able to effectively manage children’s behaviour in a positive way and to promote good relationships and good behaviour.
8. Proven ability to effectively use data, intelligence and evidence to create meaningful insight and to inform one's own decision making.
9. Knowledge of statutory legislation (for example Children’s Act and SEND / EHCP processes) and national policy drivers that will affect children’s services and your role (in this role it will include knowledge of and understanding of KS1 to KS4 of the national curriculum).
10. A proven track record as a successful strategic leader, with direct experience of leading a team.
