Overview

Experienced Male Support Worker

Ilkeston, DE7 8XW

£12.21 per hour • Full-time 39 hours per week - Permanent

Real Life Options provide support to people with autism, learning disabilities, and complex needs. We provide individualised support packages and promote independence to enable people to live a happy fulfilled life within their own homes. The purpose-built accommodation is made of individual apartments and purpose-built bungalows. We’re seeking experienced Support Workers to join our team in Ilkeston, where you will play a key role in providing compassionate support. This role offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic, dedicated team, offering flexibility while making a significant impact on people\'s lives.

The service comprises 12 independent living apartments for people with mild learning disabilities and 8 bungalows for individuals with higher complex needs for people who display behaviours of concern. The role will be to cover support with all our residents therefore we are looking for applicants with experience in working with people with mental health and challenging, complex behaviour. Working in this role you would need to be resilient, have an open mind, and have a non-judgmental approach, so this would appeal to people who share a real interest and have experience in complex care.


Responsibilities

You will be supporting individuals in their own homes to live as independently as possible; this involves:

* following daily planners
* helping with financial expenditure
* domestic support and administration of medication
* personal care
* meal planning/preparation
* maintaining important relationships
* support to find new friendships

A rewarding part of the role will be encouraging participation in activities in the local community to enhance social inclusion. Seeking new opportunities for the growth and development of the people we support which could include volunteering roles and further education access.


Shift patterns

* 7am to 2pm
* 3pm to 10pm
* 9pm – 7am (Waking Nights)
* 10pm – 8am (Waking Nights)

Working on a rota, you will be required to work weekends, evenings, bank holidays with planned time off. Flexibility to cover any of these shift patterns over the 7 day weekly period is essential.


Requirements

* Experience in working with people with autism, learning disabilities, mental health and challenging, complex behaviour
* Enhanced DBS is required
