Electrical and Instrumentation Technician (Shifts) Reporting to the Shift Manager Based: Wilton Salary: Negotiable - Whilst all salaries are graded, Sembcorp are keen to attract, retain and develop the highest calibre of colleague. Position Overview: The (E&I) Electrical and Instrumentation Technician plays a crucial role on shift as part of the operations team, reporting to the Lead Op & Shift Manager as part of a 5-shift system, ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of electrical and instrumentation systems. This position involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a wide range of equipment, including power distribution systems, control panels, and various instrumentation devices. The technician will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical and instrumentation systems comply with industry standards and regulations, contributing to the overall reliability and performance of operations. Safety Drive a culture of safety first and always ensure adherence to safe systems of work. Promote a culture which supports team working across the department and adjacent functions. Always work according to an approved method statement and risk assessment and stop work if they have any concerns over safety. Develop, create, and approve task specific RAMS or support if needed Support Lead Op & Shift Manager to ensure compliance regarding Safe Operating Procedures and Sembcorp Management Procedures. always Adhere to Safe Operating Procedures and Sembcorp Management Procedures Responsibilities Equipment Installation and Maintenance: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation systems in utilities, power, and steam plants. Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues and perform preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance. Isolation of Plant and Equipment: Carry out isolation procedures for plant and equipment, ensuring the safety of personnel and compliance with lockout/tagout protocols. Implement proper isolation techniques to facilitate maintenance, repairs, and equipment upgrades Instrument Calibration and Testing: Calibrate and test a variety of instrumentation devices, including sensors, transmitters, and control valves, to maintain accurate readings and control system functionality. Collaborate with operations teams to schedule and perform calibration activities without disrupting plant operations. Emergency Response: Respond promptly to electrical and instrumentation emergencies, including power outages or equipment failures, to minimize downtime and ensure the continuity of power and steam production. Execute established emergency procedures and troubleshoot issues efficiently. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all electrical and instrumentation activities adhere to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols. Maintain accurate documentation of isolation procedures, equipment testing, and compliance records. Collaboration with Operations and Engineering: Collaborate with plant operators to coordinate maintenance activities and provide technical support during planned shutdowns or operational changes. Work closely with engineering teams to implement upgrades, modifications, or new installations. Troubleshooting and Fault Diagnosis: Diagnose and rectify electrical and instrumentation faults using advanced troubleshooting techniques. Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify root causes of issues and implement effective solutions. Experience of Valmet, Siemens, Delta V and Speedtronic systems. Training and Knowledge Transfer: Provide training to operations and maintenance personnel on electrical and instrumentation procedures, safety protocols, and best practices. Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and emerging standards to enhance technical expertise. Safety and Risk Management: Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and audits to proactively address safety concerns and contribute to a culture of safety within the workplace. Identify and mitigate potential hazards associated with electrical and instrumentation systems. Continuous Improvement: Propose and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and reliability of electrical and instrumentation systems. Requirements NVQ level 3 or equivalent (Trade Specific) IOSH Working Safely HNC (Desirable) Relevant technical diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
