Commercial Electrician – Full-Time

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded electrical contractor that delivers a range of services across domestic, commercial, and public-sector sites. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Electrician to join their team.
About the role
This position involves a mix of testing, inspection, maintenance, and installation work, with a primary focus on EICRs and PAT testing within public buildings. You may also be asked to support a variety of other projects including refurbishments and electrical upgrades in schools, offices, retail spaces, residential blocks, and light industrial settings.
A company vehicle will be provided, and the successful candidate will be expected to work both independently and as part of a wider team.
Key responsibilities
Conduct EICRs, PAT testing, and complete the relevant certification
Inspect, test, and ensure compliance with current wiring regulations (BS 7671)
Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and installations across a range of electrical systems
Fault finding and rectification in both planned and reactive settings
Liaise with clients, contractors, and colleagues in a professional manner
Maintain clear and accurate records of time worked, materials used, and tasks completed
Follow health and safety procedures and company policies on all jobs
Required qualifications and certifications
NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Systems or equivalent
18th Edition (City & Guilds 2382-18) – essential
Inspection & Testing qualification (City & Guilds 2391, 2394, or 2395) – essential
PAT Testing (City & Guilds 2377) – desirable (or willingness to obtain)
Full UK driving licence – essential
ECS Gold Card or equivalent competency proof – preferred
Salary and package
£38,000 – £43,000 per annum
Company van (business use only), fuel card, laptop, and phone provided
30 minutes unpaid travel time each way per job
Overtime opportunities available
20 days holiday + bank holidays, with 1 additional day per year of service
No call-out rota required
Skills and experience
Good working knowledge of British Standards, building regulations, and H&S practices
Confident reading and working from technical diagrams and drawings
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
Comfortable working alone and managing workload
Organised, reliable, and committed to high standards of work
Desirable experience
Installing EV chargers or renewable energy systems such as solar PV
Background in commercial projects including new builds, maintenance, and upgrades
Familiarity with fire alarms, CCTV, and access/security systems
